Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 2 Docket No. 50-368 License No. NPF-6 Quality Assurance Regarding Threaded Fasteners Gentlemen:
Your letter of February 10,-1983, (2CNA028303) asks for a description of actions taken to establish quality assurance measures for selection, application, and procurement of fastener lubricants and injection sealant compounds to minimize fastener susceptibility to stress-corrosipn cracking environments.
s We have in place procedure 1072.002, " Evaluation of Sealants and Compounds for Leak Repair." This procedure requires verification that sealants or compounds used for leak repair in contact with stainless steel or high nickel alloys meet acceptance criteria with a laboratory analysis of the specific batch to be used for repair.
In addition, maintenance procedures dealing with threaded fasteners specify which lubricants may be used.
Procedure 1032.06, " Procurement Technical Assistance" applies to baseline technical and quality requirements on ali Q-list and Fire Protection material ordered by ANO personnel.
During our review of your February 10, 1983, request questions have been raised as to the adequacy of these measures in regard to IE Bulletin 82-02.
