NRC MONTHLY OPERATING REPORT OPERATING

SUMMARY

AUGUST 1985 UNIT ONE The unit began the month power limited due to apparent high operating level in the "A" steam generator.

The apparent high level is caused by a differential pressure increase acros3 the tube bundle from fouling of the tube support plate crevices.

This condition had developed slowly.

The unit became power limited on July 28.

The unit tripped at 1611 hours0.0186 days
0.448 hours
0.00266 weeks
6.129855e-4 months
on the lith due to loss of both main feedwater pumps (anticipatory trip).

At 2219 hours0.0257 days
0.616 hours
0.00367 weeks
8.443295e-4 months
on the 13th, the reactor was taken critical.

The unit was tied on line on line on the 14th at 0513 hours0.00594 days
0.143 hours
8.482143e-4 weeks
1.951965e-4 months
, and power was raised to approximately 45% to permit continued repairs to the main feedwtaer pump control oil system.

At 1930 hours0.0223 days
0.536 hours
0.00319 weeks
7.34365e-4 months
on the 18th, power escalation to full power was begun.

At 2359 hours0.0273 days
0.655 hours
0.0039 weeks
8.975995e-4 months
on the same day, 90% power was attained and held for fuel consideration.

At 1921 hours0.0222 days
0.534 hours
0.00318 weeks
7.309405e-4 months
on the 19th, the unit was manually tripped during the runback after trip of one main feedwater pump turbine.

Repairs to the main feedwater pump controls and to a leaking steam generator secondary handhole cover were condu-ted.

Following these repairs, the unit was taken critical at 1832 hours0.0212 days
0.509 hours
0.00303 weeks
6.97076e-4 months
on the 25th and brought on line at 2306 hours0.0267 days
0.641 hours
0.00381 weeks
8.77433e-4 months
on the same day.

After several power holds, 100% power was attained at 1641 hours0.019 days
0.456 hours
0.00271 weeks
6.244005e-4 months
on the 27th.

The unit became power limited again on the 30th.

Power had decreased to approximately 98% by the end of the month, l
