SUMMARY
- APRIL, 1983 UNIT 1 The unit started the month in the final stages of refueling outage 1-RS.
The unit was brought critical and Low Power Physics Testing was com-pleted on the 10th. A power escalation was begun with the turbine being placed on line at 20:30 on the lith. At 00:41 on the 12th the reactor tripped on high RCS pressure and the turbine subsequently tripped. The reactor was then brought critical again but some problems were being experienced with the turbine. After an inspection revealed a failed main turbine bearing it was decided to shutdown once again to replace it.
Running concurrently with the bearing replacement was an inspection of the upper core barrel support bolts. This inspection decision was based on problems experienced _by other B&W plants. The unit remained shutdown through the remainder of the month.
