(ML17018A283), dated February 13, 2017.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)Section XI Code Case N-729-1, "Alternative Examination Requirements for PWR Reactor Vessel Upper Heads With Nozzles Having Pressure-Retaining Partial Penetration Welds," established a frequency of 10 years for the volumetric examination of the reactor vessel upper head nozzles. Entergy Operations, Inc.

(Entergy) previously submitted two relief requests to extend the frequency for this examination at Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1 (ANO-1) to approximately 15.5 years. The NRC approved both extensions (References 1 and 2).

Subsequent to the approval to extend this frequency, the NRC revised 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(D) to require implementation of Revision 6 of the code case (N-729-6).

This section of the regulation also stipulates that all previous NRC-approved alternatives from

1CAN042102 Page 2 of 2 the requirements of paragraph (g)(6)(ii)(D) remain valid Entergy has updated the current ANO-1 in-service inspection program plan to include the requirements of Code Case N-729-6.

The purpose of this letter is to notify the NRC that Entergy is no longer using ANO-1 relief request ANO1-ISI-026. ANO-1 will comply with the requirements of Code Case N-729-6, as conditioned by 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(D). This letter is provided for information only and no response is requested from the NRC.

This letter contains no new regulatory commitments.
