Pursuant to Section IX.I.2.b. (2) of Appendix A of the Technical Specificaticns to the Humboldt Bay Unit No. 3 Operating License, we are subnitting the enclosed Licensee Event W IER 81-001-03Ir-0 mvering failure of #2 screen wash pump's discharge valve.

i The #2 pump is one of four backups that provide shutdown heat

removal for the reactor. There were no adverse effects.
