Dear Mr. Eure:
I wrote to you on December 4, 1986 concerning the reorganization of the NRC staff offices, especially the Office of State Programs.
I want to inform you of the Commission's decision in this area.
The Commission has decided to move the functions of the Office of State Programs, including the Agreement State function, to the new Office of Governmental and Public Affairs. The result of the reorganization will be to move State Programs functions, including policy and execution, from the staff to the Commission, thereby enhancing Connission involvement in the direction and oversight of State Programs.
In view of this decision, I believe that the meeting you requested in your October 22, 1986 letter is not necessary.
I appreciate receiving your views on this matter and assure you that the Commission will continue to emphasize the importance of an effective Agreement State program.
