5. DATE(S) OF INSPECTION June 19 & 20, 2018 Item 8.A. of Amendment No. 6, of NRC License No. 07-30584-01 requires that the maximum amount the licensee may possess at one time under the license is 95 millicuries of carbon 14. Contrary to the above, between July 31, 2017, and August 3, 2017, the licensee did not limit the maximum amount that they possessed at one time under the license to 95 millicuries of carbon 14. Specifically, the licensee possessed 99.37 millicuries of carbon-14 which is greater than 95 millicuries.

The licensee on July 31, 2017, recognized that they had exceed the possession limit. This was caused by inaccurate information concerning the amount of waste located at 3 Innovation Way. When the waste was transferred to 110 Executive Drive for disposal, the error was discovered.

The licensee expedited a waste shipment and shipped 41.95 millicuries of waste on August 3, 2017, and lowering their possession to within authorized amounts. The licensee had been using three different inventory systems, one at each site and was not accurately reflecting the full inventory.

The licensee implemented one inventory system for the accounting of licensed material.
