Adjustment of Civil Penalties for Inflation for Fiscal Year 2018 [RIN 3150-AJ83; NRC-2016-0166].

  • Description of the rule: The Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990, as amended by the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015, requires Federal agencies to adjust the maximum civil monetary penalty amount that can be assessed on an annual basis to adjust for inflation. This rule amends the NRC regulations to implement the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015.
  • Dates: The effective date of this rule is January 15, 2018.
  • This is not a major rule as defined by the Congressional Review Act.
