ATTACHMENTTOAEP:NRC:1212BPage3Inthecoverlettertothesubjectnoticeofviolation/inspection'eport,itwasrequestedthatourresponseincludeareviewofsimilarevolutionsthat'requirecoordinationbetweendifferentgroupsandthestepstakentoimprovethecoordinationandcommunicationsbetweensuchgroups.Reviewandassessmentofcoordinationandcommunicationbetweendifferentgroupsisanintegralpartofourcorrectiveactionprogram.PreviousassessmentleadtotheinitiationofacomprehensiveimprovementplanwithintheChemistryDepartment.Similarly,aselfassessmentofrecenteventsrelatedtocoordinationandcommunicationwithintheOperationsDepartmenthasresultedintheinitiationofsignificantchangeswithinthisdepartment.ThelatestanalysisofourCorrectiveActionProgramDataBaserevealedthatcommunicationsremainachallenge.Thisinformationhasbeenprovidedtotheappropriatemanagementpersonnel.Wewillcontinuetomonitorperformanceintheseareasandprovidefeedbackrelativetotheeffectivenessofperformanceimprovementinitiatives.TeamworkandCommunicationarecriticaltothesuccessofanyoperationandthe,importanceofeachhasconsistentlybeenemphasizedduringStateofthe"PlantSessionsconductedbytheVicePresident-PlantManagerandattendedbyplantandcontractpersonnel.Inaddition,theAEPNuclearOrganizationhasinitiatedanintegratedTeamBuildingprocess.ThisintegratedTeamBuildingprocesswasinitiatedbySeniorManagementandisdesignedtoenhanceteamwork,coordinationandcommunicationthroughoutthewholeorganization.Also,theradiationprotectiondepartmentwillreviewsimilarproceduralevolutionsthatrequirecoordinationbetweendifferentgroupsandwilldelineatewithintheseproceduresindividualresponsibilitiesforcommandandcontroloftheactivityfrombothanintradepartmentandinterdepartmentcoordinationperspective.ThisreviewwillbecompletedpriortoJuly1,1994.ProcedurechangesrequiredasaresultofthisreviewwillbecompletedpriortoMay1,1995.Inaddition,theoperationsdepartmentwillreviewthiseventwiththeoperationsproceduregroupandwilldetermineifchangesarenecessarytothecurrentproceduredevelopmentprocess.ThisreviewwillbecompletedpriortoJuly1,1994.Processchangesrequiredasaresultofthisreviewwi13.becompletedpriortoMay1,1995.DateWhenFullComlieneeVillBeAchievedFullcompliancewasachievedonMarch25,1994,withtherevisiontoProcedure02OHP4021.007.002,"ReactorCoolantDemineralizerResin'SluicingandReplacement".
