SUMMARY
OF THE NOVEMBER 20, 2023, OBSERVATION PUBLIC MEETING WITH NUSCALE POWER, LLC REGARDING THE PLANNED TOPICAL REPORT SUBMITTAL FOR HIGHLY INTEGRATED PROTECTION SYSTEM PLATFORM The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held an observation public meeting on November 20, 2023, to discuss pre-application topics related to the NuScale Power, LLCs (NuScale) highly integrated protections system (HIPS) platform for a future Licensing Topical Report (LTR) submittal. NuScale requested this meeting to provide an introduction to the topic and to discuss the scope of the LTR. NuScale also sought feedback from the NRC staff on the key information proposed in the future LTR submittal.
During the open portion of the meeting, NuScale provided an overview presentation of the relevant topical reports and future submittal. They also provided a short summary of the changes to the HIPS platform that would be discussed in the future submittal. At the conclusion of the open session of the meeting, the public attendees were provided with the opportunity to make comments and ask questions. No questions were asked related to the topic of the meeting. After the public portion of the meeting, the NRC staff and NuScale discussed the proprietary aspect of NuScales changes to the HIPS platform in a closed session.
