SUBJECT:

CLOSEOUT OF STATE LIAISON (SL) PROCEDURE SL-200 UPDATING LIST OF GOVERNORS DESIGNEES FOR ADVANCED NOTIFICATION OF NUCLEAR WASTE SHIPMENTS (STC-25-026)

Purpose:

To inform the National Materials Program community that State Liaison (SL)

Procedure SL-200 Updating List of Governors Designees for Advanced Notification of Nuclear Waste Shipments has been rescinded.

Background:

The procedure SL-200 Updating List of Governors Designees for Advanced Notification of Nuclear Waste Shipments provided guidance for conducting annual designee verification and updating the NRCs Part 71 and 73 program contact lists.

Discussion: Since its publication in 2009, the guidance in SL-200 has been superseded by NRC programmatic changes (e.g. a change in responsible program offices (FSME to NMSS),

the inclusion of Part 37 materials into the Advanced Notification Designee program), and NMSS programmatic processing changes that rely on heightened Regional State Liaison Officer (RSLO) involvement. As a result, SL-200 has been rescinded. In its place, NMSS/MSST/SLPB has developed a desktop guide for NMSS staff and will update State Liaison Procedure, SL-100 Regional State Liaison Officer Program during its next iteration with RSLO program processing guidance, incorporating key guidance from SL-200 and updated to align with current practices.
