50-387 50-388 At the Special Prehearing Conference held on January 29-31, 1979, the Staff estimated that it could issue the Final Environmental Statement (FES), the Safety Evaluation Report (SER),

and the SER Supplement in late October.,1979, late March 1980, and late July 1980, respectively.

(Transcript at 366-7).

Based on those issue dates it was anticipated that the hearing of environmental issues could begin by January 1980 and the hearing of safety issues could begin by September 1980.

(Special Prehearing Conference Order at 79).

Staff Counsel stated that he would advise the Board and the parties of significant changes in those estimated dates.

(Transcript at 368).

The Staff now estimates that the FES will be issued in late January 1980, that the SER will be issued in late August 1980, and that the SER Supplement will be issued in early January 1981.

Based on these dates the Staff believes that the earliest date for the start of the hearing on environmental issues would be March or April 1980 and that the earliest date for the start of the h'earing on safety issues would be February or March 1981.
