Dear Mr. Koval:
Enclosed is a copy of the November 1985 Discharge Monitoring Report for Permit No.
PA 0047325.
The following information details data and/or non-compliances for some of the permitted outfalls:
Outfall 071:
Cooling Tower Blowdown Flows are currently, being estimated.
The monthly average total iron limit of 6.8 mg/1 was exceeded in November (12.18 mg/l).
The cause of this violation can be attributed to high levels of iron in the Susquehanna River.
See Note 84 of DMR 071.
The daily maximum of 1 mg/1 for total zinc was exceeded (1.1 mg/1). It is assumed the cause for this excursion is also the river.
'I There was a short excursion of free chlorine in the blowdown on November 4.
The free chlorine was above 0.5 ppm from 0940 to 1110 (about 90 minutes).
The highest level was 0.85 ppm at 0950.
The excess chlorine was due to a shut down of Unit 1 reactor and the subsequent reduction of chlorine demand by reduced heat load and makeup.
See Note i/6 of DMR 071.
Outfall 072:
Service and Administration Building Sump The total suspended solids (TSS) average monthly limit of 30 mg/1 was exceeded (56.0 mg/1), however, the daily maximum of 100 mg/1 was not for TSS.
See Note 83 of DMR 072.

Waste Filter Bypass The TSS limit of 30 mg/1 was exceeded (323 mg/1).
This violation will be corrected"in 1986.
