St. Lucie Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-335 and 50-389 Generic Letter 96 Initial Res onse This letter provides the Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) initial response to Generic Letter (GL) 96-05, Periodic Verification of Design-Basis Capability of Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valves, for St. Lucie Units 1 and 2. The GL requested an initial written response within sixty days of September 18, 1996, indicating FPL's intentions to implement the actions requested in the GL and a schedule for completion.
Within 180 days from the date of the GL, or upon notification to NRC of completion of GL 89-10.
(whichever is later), licensees are required to submit a written summary description of the motor-operated valve ( MOV)periodic verification program established in accordance with the requested actions paragraph of the GL.
FPL will implement the actions requested and submit a summary description of periodic verification program in accordance with the schedule in the GL. FPL has notified the NRC of completion of the GL 89-10 program for St. Lucie Units 1 and 2, therefore, the requested information willbe submitted by March 17, 1997.
This response is provided pursuant to the requirements of Section 182a of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and 10 CFR 50.54(f).
