This refers to
a routine
announced
inspection
conducted
by Hr. D. Acker during
the period of January
31 through February 4,
1994, of activities authorized
by
NRC License
No. NPF-21,
and to the discussion of his findings held with you
and other members of your staff on February 4,
1994.
Areas
examined during this inspection
are described
in the report.
Within
these
areas,
the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures
and representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and observations
by the
inspector.
This inspection
reviewed actions
you have initiated to address
questions
raised
in
NRC Inspection
Report 50-397/93-51,
regarding the adequacy of fire
barrier penetration
seals.
This inspection identified additional potential
omissions
in your design basis for fire barrier penetration
seals.
We have
reviewed your initial actions to resolve these
items
and consider your staff's
actions to be directed towards resolving the concerns
raised.
We encourage
you to continue with your corrective actions to ensure that
WNP-2 fire barrier
seals
meet design requirements.
Although no violations or deviations of NRC requirements
were identified
within the scope of this inspection,
two additional
issues
regarding fire
barrier penetration
seals
were identified as unresolved
items pending the
completion of your evaluation of the issues.
In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790(a),
a copy of this letter and the enclosure
will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
