In accordance with the Council on Environmental Qelity's Interin Guidelines and the Comission's revised statement of policy on innle-mentation of the National Environnental Policy Act of 1962, I an pleased to provide you with a copy of the environmental report and crrata sheet prepared by the Metropolitan Edison Connany relating to the enerating license stage for the Three Mile. Island : ucicar Station, Unit 1.
A provisional construction pernit for Unit 2 was issued in November 1969, but information concerning Unit 2 is included in the environmental report for informational purposec.
Coenents are requested within ti irty days either conecrning those natters over which your agency has jurisdiction by lav or special espertise as set forth in the Council on Environmental Quality 's memorandm of June 3,1970. If no com:nents are received within the thirty-day period, it will be presumed that your agency has no coe
- ments to make. As provided in paragraph 7(b) of the Council's Interin Guidelines, cc::nents are not requested with respect to vater quality aspects of the proposed action since the Metropolitan Edison Compa:rf vill have to obtain a water quality certification fron the approcri-ata State or interstate pollution agency.
After we have received the com:nents of the variotn Federal, State and local agencies, we vill prepare a detailed environmental statercut, which, together with agency coments, vill be forwarded to the Council c.
