APPLICATION FOR EXPCRT LICENSE, DATED 5/7/79, CCMPONENTS TO INDIA FOR TARAPUR REACTOR, XCCM0250 Purcase:

To inform the Commission of the receipt of a license application for export of components to India.

Discussion:

Enclosed for the information of the Ccmission are copies of an application for a license to export six traversing incore probe detector assemblies to India for use in the Tarapur reactor Units 1 and 2.

Copies of the application have been placed in the Public Document Room.

The applicant has confirmed that these parts are standard items required for the normal operation of the Tarapur reactors during the same period that the U.S.-supplied fuel, under XSNM01222 and earlier export licenses, is being utilized.

We have forwarded this request to the Executive Branch for its views.

Ccamissioners are requested to advise the staff of any particular issues or, questions regarding this proposed export.

Unless directed other-wise by the Ccmmissien, it is my intention to forward an analysis and recccmendations en the proposed export to the Ccmissioners a;:en receipt of favorable Executive Branch views in accordance with Mr. Chilk's meccrandum of April 30 en SECY 79-250.
