STAFF REQUIREMENTS-JOINT MEETING OF THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION AND THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION, 9:00 A.M., WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2019, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) met with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to discuss grid reliability, nuclear power plants and other topics. A representative of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) presented the state of power grid reliability. FERC provided briefings on a recent cold weather inquiry, removing barriers to electric storage participation, cyber security updates, and the Critical Infrastructure Protection Audits Lessons Learned Report. The NRC staff presentations included: NRC/FERC/NERC interactions, current fleet of operating reactors, subsequent license renewal, decommissioning, new reactor licensing and construction oversight, small modular reactors, advanced reactors, and cyber security inspection updates and program assessment.

There were no requirements identified for staff action.
