NATURAL RESOURCES DEFENSE COUNCIL REQUEST TO APPLICANT FOR PRODUCTION OF DOCUMENTS Pursuant to 10 CFR S 2.741, Applicant is requested to produce at the office of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), 917 15th Street, N.W.,
Washington, D.C.,
copies of the documents identified below for use and retention by NRDC.
As used in this request, the term document includes all writings, whether draft or final, and whether handwritten or typed.
It also includes documents from all sources, whether generated by or for Applicant, whether intended for internal or external use, whether prepared by supervisory personnel, management or employees, whether widely circulated, circulated to only a few people (such as board members or creditors) or only placed in the file.
It includes all documents in the possession of the Applicant regardless of how received and regardless of whether it was prepared for the benefit of the Applicant.
This request is also intended to include, without limitation on the previous articu-lation of the scope of the request, all minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors, all minutes of meetings of organizations 7904210004
2 of which Applicant is a member and all memoranda of phone calls and of oral discussions.
Please provide:
1.
All documents related to the use of alternative ways to deal with the problem of spent fuel storage, including but not limited to:
a.
building a new facility at the reactor site to accomodate the spent fuel from that reactor; b.
increasing the storage capacity of the existing spent fuel pool at the reactor; c.
reducing the use of the reactor to a last-on, first-off reactor, either as a peaking (scasonal or otherwise) or as a base load unit; d.
phasing out the use of the reactor by reducing demand or increasing non-nuclear supply, including new plants, appropriate technologies such as solar energy to supply low grade heat, and buying power.
2.
All documents related to the exposure of workers during actual handling of spent fuel, including any experience with transfer of spent fuel to off-site spent fuel storage tacilities.
3.
All documents related to threats against nuclear facilities.

All documents related to potential threats against nuclear facilities.
5.
All documents related to possible consequences of efforts to implement threats against nuclear facilities.
6.
All documents related to the effectiveness of methods which Applicant intends to use, with respect to the proposed trans-shipment of spent fuel, to prevent any malevolent act (s abotage,
theft, terrorism), tc prevent the intentional or accidental release of radioactivity or a credible threat of the intentional release of radioactivity.
