Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412 IE Bulletin No. 80-16 Potential Misapplication of Rosemount Inc. Models 1151 and 1152 Pressure Transmitters with either "A" or "D" Output Codes Gentlemen:

We have reviewed IE Bulletin No. 80-16 and IE Circular No. 80-16 which was submitted with your letter dated June 27, 1980. The Bulletin and Circular identify a potential misapplication problem that exists on Rosemount Inc. Models 1151 and 1152 pressure transmitters with either "A"

or "D"

output codes.

We have investigated for any adverse impact on Beaver Valley Unit No. 2.

The results of our review and investigation follow:

1.

Model 1151 or 1152 Rosemcunt transmitters have not been specified to date for any Class IE safety-related applications at Beaver Valley i

Unit No.

2.

Future purchase of any model 1152 Rosemount transmitters for safety-related applications in Beaver Valley Unit No. 2, will require fixed damping (output code "A")

which will not exnibit the adverse characteristics as presented in the referenced circular.

3.

Future orders of Models 1151 and 1152 transmitters from Rosemount will specify the Rosemount type-E electronics which will not exhibit the adverse characteristics as presented in the subject IE Bulletin.

Additionally, each application will be reviewed to assure that the upper range limit cannot be exceeded by more than 135% in either direction.
