t ENCLOSURE QUESTION Table 6-1 contains values for core average heat flux and average linear heat rate for both cycle 5 and the reference cycle 4 of Unit 1.

The cycle'5 to cycle 4 ratios of these two quantities should be equal but are not. Please explain why.

RESPONSE

The value of Average Linear Heat Rate given in Table 6-1 for cycle 5 (6.45 kw/ft)_has been found to be inconsistent with the associated descrip-tive label. The correct value for cycle 5 is 6.23 kw/ft. Contrary to the descriptive label in the submittal,-the earlier value corresponded to densified fuel without accounting for the fraction of heat generated out-side the fuel rod.

Use of 6.23 kw/ft in the cycle 5 to cycle 4 ratio results in agreement with the cycle 5 to cycle'4 ratio of Core Average Heat Flux.
