f LER 77-01/03L EVFRT DESCRIPTION During normal operation the leakage on No. 3 Coolant Charging Pump
.l past the rams became excessive.
No. 3 Coolant Charging Pump was i
removed from service for maintenance. No. 1 Coolant Charging Pump was changed from the fixed speed mode to the variable speed mode.
This 1cft one coolant charging pump out of service, one in fixed speed and one.in variable speed. This is in violation of Technical Specifi-cation Section 3.5.2.c.
After recognizing the error in plant lineup, the plant returned the charging pump lineup so that it conformed to Technical Specifi-cation Section 3.5.2.c.
Special order No 114 was initiated which delineated the proper action to be taken whenever a charging pump is to be removed from service for maintenance.

CAUSE DESCRIPTION 1
This event'is a nofi-r6~petitive' type event. The main contributary cause of this event being operator unfamiliarity. The plant recently commenced operation under the star.dard Technical Specification.
Prior to January 1, 1977, Plant Technical Specification had allowed the above referenced system lineup.
