As you are aware, the Nucleai. Regulatory'Comission (NRC), headquarters remains dispersed in ten different.buildingt.in four. locations.-.

Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring.. and..the. District. of. Columbia.. For some time NRC has been pursuing.an interim. consolidation.in.two..geograph..

ical locations -- 1717'H Strect.. N.N and the.Bethesda ~ area. -.to alleviate this problem.

lt has been brought to ray attention. that. buildings.are.being. constructed.

and space' for. lease advertised. in.the.400. C Street. S.W.. area.ncar.HASA and the General Services Regional Office. Building.. 0f the.three. buildings.

in this complex belonging to..the.Donohoe. Company,.one.is,carmarked.for.

4 commercial leasing and the other.two buildings.are.being. considered.by.GSA.

for. Federal leasing.- The building. for.which the. foundation.is.bef og dug.now, due for completion in 1982, and. space in. the.other, completed.bu.i] ding, if assigned to NRC, could be the. key.to.an. effective. interim. consolidation.

Essential NRC staff could be lcca!cd.in these. buildings, and the. remaining I;RC elements consolidated into.Bethesda..thus. achieving. the. interim. con-solidation essential to NRC operations.

We' feel that this is an excellent. opportunity.for.an. interim. consolidation.of HRC in compliance with Congressional. desires. and the needs.of.NRC. management.
