I The ESF Status Panel displays consist of component level windows (pugs, valves, fans, or. vital auxiliary support system groups) which are presided over by system l

l 1evel windows (e.g.

Safety Injection System, Containment Isolation System, etc.).

Input circuits to the ESF Status Panels are treated as associated. Inputs are isolated from annunciation and logic circuitry via IEEE 323 qualified isolators.

Attachment I (3 sheets) provides a layout of three ESF Status Panel lamp boxes i

(separation groups 1, 2, and 4). Attachment II provides. engraving legends of the components on the ESF Status Panels.

Under normal plant conditions cogonent level windows are either dark or lit white in a prescribed manner. If a couponent is normally in its safeguards state its window is lit white. If a component is not normally in its safe-guards state its window is dark. The system level windows are dark under full-power conditions. Upon an ESF actuation, all component level windows within the associated actuation system will be lit white provided all conponents have l

correctly responded to the actuation signal. In this case, the system level window also goes into a white mode. However, if one or more components do not respond correctly to the actuation signal, the system level window would remain dark. This operation is advisory and does not provide bypassed or inoperable status indication.

When a bypass or inoperable condition exists on any component, (breaker racked out, loss of control voltage, handsvitch in a pull to lock mode) its conponent level window is lit amber. Simultaneously the associated system level window is also lit amber, actuating an audible alarm and alerting the operator of a bypassed or inoperable condition. On certain critical manual valves, (for example, the auxiliary feedwater discharge valves) an amber light and/or audio annunciation provides bypassed / inoperable status upon valve n'isalignment. A component bypass condition (saber) overrides advisory information (white). Hence, if a component is in.its safeguards mode and a concurrent loss of control voltage occurs, the component is displayed as an amber light.

Note that automatic sysi.em leval indication of bypass and in-operable status, called for by Regulatory Guide 1.47, applies only to acom.cnally initiated components including thoseconponents which directly support che automatically initiated components but which themselves may not be automatically initiated because they are normally in the operating mode.

Several windows included within the ESP Status Panels monitor NSSS components relating to the semiautomatic switchover from safety injection to recirculation

Rendering equipment inoperable for infrequent maintenance (once a year or less of ten) is not specifically and automatically indicated. Exangles of such equip-ment are manual valves provided for isolation of equiprant for repair. However, switches are provided on the main control board to allow manual initiation of the system level amber lights to indicate a bypass. Using administrative control, manual bypass indication can be set up or removed. Note that the automatic bypass indication (amber light) cannot be removed by operator action until the bypass condition is removed.
