LILCO'S STATUS REPORT ON THE SCHEDULE FOR FILING EMERGENCY PLANNING CONTENTIONS In its " Order Confirming Adjustment in Schedule to File Contentions," dated May 5, 1983, the Licensing Board with au-thority over the other issues in this case granted Suffolk County's request for additional time to draft contentions, ex-tending that time by one week to a date four weeks after j
receipt of LILCO's revised emergency plan.
The Board also ordered that
[w]ithin two weeks after receipt of LILCO's re-vised plan, the parties shall, on a coordinated basis, report to the Board their agreement or l
disagreement on whether the four week period for receipt of draft contentions should be adjusted l
l slightly, in either direction, due to the unex-i pectedly concise or extensive content of LILCO's l
revision to its emergency plan.

parties regarding the schedule for submitting draft conten-tions.
Suffolk County suggested during this call that it required an additional six weeks to review the plans served by LILCO on May 26, 1983, thus extending the date draft conten-tions would be due to mid-August.
LILCO opposed this' lengthy extension.
On Monday, June 6, 1983, counsel for the County indicated in a call with LILCO's counsel that the intervenors were filing a status report on June 8 or 9 without LILCO / because of the 2
difference in position among the parties, and that LILCO should file its own status report stating its position on the sched-ule.
Counsel for the County also indicated during the June 6 call that, while'its precise position had not yet been i
formulated, it intended to suggest in its status report that filing contentions on certain of the plans before the Board would be premature or inappropriate.
It continues to be LILCO's position that (1) the four weeks allowed by the Board is ample time in which to produce draft contentions and (2) those contentions should address the LILCO-County plan and the LILCO interim plans.
With the power plant scheduled to be physically ready to load fuel by August, the scheduling of the remaining emergency planning litigation is becoming of increasing concern to LILCO.
In light of the nature of the filings anticipated from the intervenors, LILCO 2/
Counsel for Suffolk County was unsure whether the interve-nors would file a joint report or separate reports.
JV
, requests that this Board allow it to respond in writing on Monday, June 13, 1983, to the intervenors' status report.
Counsel for NRC Staff has authorized us to state it joins in LILCO's status report to the Board, and that it too would like to respond on Monday, June'~i3 to the intervenors.' status report.
Respectfully submitted, Kdthy [,.
