Waterford 3 SES Docket No. 50-3033gA Generic Letter 83-01 Operator Licensing Examination Site Visit
Dear Mr. Knighton:
The purpose of this letter is to submit the Louisiana Power and Light Company (LP&L) response to the subject Generic Letter which requested an estimate of the schedule and number of operator licensing and instructor certification examinations that will be necessary between now and December 1985.
The categories into which this information has been divided will be enumerated here with the Louisiana Power and Light Company response below.
(1)
Initial (cold) license examinations for units applying for operating licenses.
Approximately 40 candidates July 11, 1983 (2)
Initial license examinations to extend licenses to a second, identical unit af ter initial licensing.
None (3)
Examinations to support certification of utility employees as instructors.
Approximately 8 candidates September, 1984 (4)
Examinations to support certification of individuals r
who are not utility employees but who are under contract to instruct licensed operators.

Examinations for initial licensing of personnel at operating facilities or for upgrading a license from the Reactor Operator to the Senior Operator level.
Approximately 10-12 candidates September, 1984 Approximately 10-12 candidates October, 1985 Only the Cold License (1) estimates may considered firm. The dates and numbers given above are rough estimates only and should be treated as such. Not included in these estimates is the fact that re-examinations90-120 days after the scheduled examination would be requested for any unsuccessful candidates.
