Subject:

Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 IE Inspection Report No.

50-456/81-14 and 50-457/81-14 NRC Docket Nos. 50-456/457 s

Reference (a):

T. R. Tramm letter to J. G. Keppler dated December 13, 1982

Dear Mr. Keppler:

Reference (a) indicated that Braidwood Unit 1 tendon s

lift-off testing would be completed in January 1983 and that our final report would be available by February 28, 1983.

The following provides the status for this work currently underway at Braidwood Unit 1.

Lift-offs on 17 dome, 11 vertical, and 8 horizontal tendons were performed between 12/22/82 and 3/4/83.

The lift-offs on the l

vertical and horizontial tendons were all within the S&L predicted range.

Six dome tendons were found to be below the value predicted by S&L.

Additional lift-offs were then performed on the other tendons that had been stressed with the affected guage.

Of these, one was acceptable and two were deficient.

The eight dome tendons that had lift-off values below the predicted level are being restressed, which began 3/7/83.

Completion of restressing is expected by 3/18/83.

The approved non-conformance reports are expected to be available onsite for your t

review by April 15, 1983.

I Please address any questions that you may have concerning this matter to this office.

Very truly your,

/
