Response to Email Dated 02/27/2020 titled "Flight Recorders" Date:
Friday, March 20, 2020 9:36:00 AM Mr. Margulies,
I am responding to your email to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated February 27, 2020, titled Flight Recorders.
Operating nuclear power plants in the U.S. currently possess the means to record critical plant parameters via the so-called plant process computer. Section 1.8 of NRCs boiling water reactor (BWR) training manual (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML11258A297) provides a discussion of the plant process computer. Section 3.7.4 of the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) for Columbia Generating Station (ADAMS Accession No. ML19343C087) provides information about that sites seismic instrumentation.
Sincerely, Shilp Vasavada
