Davis Region III Administrator U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 799 Roosevelt Road Glen 811yn, IL 60137 Dear Sirs This Special Report is submitted in accordance with LaSalle Units 1 and 2 operating licenses NPF-11 and NPF-18 respectively, Appendix A, and Technical Specification 3.7.6 and 6.6.C.
On January 14, 1992 at 1235 hoars with Unit 2 in the Refueling Mode of operation, Fire Door 503 was l'2 operable for a period greater than seven days. The door was opened on 1/7/92 at 1235 hours0.0143 days <br />0.343 hours <br />0.00204 weeks <br />4.699175e-4 months <br /> to support Plant Modifications M-1-2-90-009 and M-1-2-90-010.
An hourly fire watch was established, in accordance with Technical Specification 3/4.7.6., at the door and will remain in effect until the door is closed.
Fire Door 503 separbtes Unit 2 fire zone 8B1 High Pressure Core Spray (HPCS) Diesel Generator on elevation 710 of the Auxiliary Building from fire zone SC11 Unit 2 Diesel Generator Corridor on elevation 710.
To assure that the level of fire protection does not decrease during the course of this event, LaSalle has met the requirements of action statement
'A' of Technical Specification 3.7.6 by verifying fire detection on at least one side of the affected Fire Door to be operable and establishing cn hourly fire watch.
Fire Door 503 vill be returned to operable status upon completion of the modification work.
