GENERIC ISSUE MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM -
FOURTH QUARTER FY-96 UPDATE Attached is the Fourth Quarter FY-96 update of the Generic Issue Management 4
Control System (GIMCS) for your information. This report reflects the following major activities that occurred during the reporting period:
(1)
Two generic safety issues (GSIs) were prioritized and will require resolution:
190 Fatigue Evaluation of Metal Components for 60-Year Plant Life 191 Assessment of Debris Accumulation on PWR Sump Performance (2)
Five generic issues were identified for prioritization, including three by NMSS.
s Thus, seven issues remain to be prioritized (see Table 7), three issues remain 1
to be reprioritized (see Table 8), and seventeen GSIs remain to be resolved, including two that are scheduled for resolution in the First Quarter of FY-97 (See Table 4A).
In response to the Commission request in SRM951219A that the staff use "gng acency-wide ceneric issue resolution trackino system," GIMCS has been expanded to track ongoing work on:
(a) previously resolved GSIs (see Table 12); and (b) related generic activities (see Table 13).
I will continue to keep you informed of progress in resolving the issues as well as any major problems that might surface during the course of their resolution.
