COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 APPLICATION OF LOW SULPHUR CONTENT A588 STEEL SDAR:
Dear Mr. Johnson:
On December 6, 1985, we verbally notified your Mr. S. Phillips of a defi-ciency regarding the improper segregation, control and application of low sulphur content A588 steel used in the fabrication of pipe whip and moment restraints. Review by Gibbs & Hill has indentified three structures in which the use of the improper A588 steel could have detrimental effects.
Nondestructive testing is planned the week of January 6, 1986 to provide additional information required to conclude the evaluation.
We are continuing our evaluation and anticipate completion by February 5, 1986.
Very truly yours, v.s. c 4 W. G. Counsil l
