Special Maintenance Work
Description:
Four special maintenance projects were performed at Vermont Yankee in 1996.
Project 1: Drywell Piping Over Pressurization: This was a design change which installed pressure relief and check valves around certain valves in the drywell.
Project 2: Feedwater Heater Replacement Project: This was a complete replacement of the two feedwater heaters located inside the condensers.
Project 3: Core Shroud Tie Rod Installation Project was a design change which installed four tie rod clamps on the core shroud to prevent the shroud from coming apart due to a circumferential crack.
Project 4: Appendix J Modifications Project: This project was a design change to address weaknesses in Vermont Yankee's implementation of the Appendix J program. This design change installed 3/4" connections to be used as vents, drains, or connections for leak rate testing.
