SUBJECT:

COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 SEISMIC QUALIFICATION OF HVAC SUPPORTS SDAR: CP-85-54

Dear Mr. Johnson:

On December 20, 1985, we verbally notified your Mr. R. Hall of a deficiency involving discrepancies in supplier provided HVAC support documents which could invalidate the seismic qualification of the supports. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). We have submitted an interim report logged TXX-4668, dated January 20, 1986.

A program of field inspections and engineering verification has been'ini-tiated to determine the extent of this issue. As-built analyses of the support system in selected plant areas, in addition to the review of speci-fic hardware concerns, will provide information to assess the unresolved support qualification issue. These efforts are currently scheduled for completion in late May, 1986.

We are continuing our evaluation and anticipate completion of our final report by June 19, 1986.

Very truly yours, 8603100645 860228 g
