Dear Mr. Pierce:
This is in regard to your letter dated August 30, 1985, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), information regarding James Neel and/or David Gravely in their association with Pyrochem, Inc.,
Nuclear Engineering, Inc., and U.S. Ecology, Inc., relating to the Maxey Flats Nuclear Disposal Area, Hillsboro, Kentucky, and the Sheffield, Illinois, disposal site.
During your October 3,1985, telephone conversation with Mr. Stephen Isaacs of my staff, you were infonned that NRC had located additional documents subject to your request subsequent to our September 26, 1985, response to your request.
During that conversation, you agreed to eliminate from your request a document identified as company confidential.
Copies of the documents listed on the enclosed Appendix C are being placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) in PDR folder F01A-85-619 under your name.

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C.
552, as amended, the Environmental Task Force requests information regarding Mr. James Neel and/or Mr. David Gravely in their association with PyroChem, Inc., Nuclear Engineering, Inc.,
and U.S.
Eco log y, Inc. relating to the Maxey Flats Neclear Disposal, Hillsboro, KY and the Sheffield, IL disposal site.
I am specificly interested in a record of permit applications, test data submissions and any notices of operating violation, inspection reports, and any enforcement action.
I hereby request that you waive search and duplication charges, pursuant to 5 U.S.C.
552 (a) (4) ( A) "because furnishing the information can be considered as primarily benefitting the general public."
The Environmental Task Force is a non-profit organization whose primary objective is to ser ve Amer ica's grassroots environmental groups.
Information sought pursuant to this request will be used to address citizens' concerns about the environmental impacts of the Westway project.
As you know, the Freedom of Information Act provides that if portions of a document are exempt f rom release, the remainder must be segregated and disclosed.
Therefore, I will expect you to send me all nonexempt portions of the records which I have requested, and ask that you justify any deletions by reference to specific exemptions to the Freedom of Information Act.
I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any mater ials.
If you have any questions regarding this request, please contact me at 822-6800.
