Notice of Violation 85-50 This is in reference to your letter dated December 12, 1985 in response to our letter dated September 27, 1985. This also refers to my telephone discussion with you in January.
We understand that you are still tying to obtain information concerning the DANI Electron Capture Detector so that the NRC may perform a device review to determine whether this device is suitable for use in the United States. However, we are concerned about the amount of time it is taking the manufacturer to provide this information,to you.
We expect prompt cor'rective action when violations of NRC requirements are identified. This violation was identified nearly nine months ago; therefore, we are requesting that you submit a time table for completing your corrective actions. We have identified two actions which we consider would result in
- appropriate correction of this violation:

1.
You submit to this office sufficient technical descriptions of the DANI detector cell for the NRC to deterpine that it is safe for use, or 2.
You arrange for the detector cell and gas chromatograph to be returned to the Italian manufactu 4r.
Please submit a time table for complet.ing your corrective actions to this office within 25 days of the date of this letter.
