CP-86-46 (INTERIM REPORT)

Dear Mr. Johnson:

On June 11, 1986, we verbally notified your Mr. C. Hale of a deficiency involving a design change to vendor supplied equipment being made without formal evaluation by the vendor. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).

The specific issue involves a design change to Gould battery racks which revises the transverse bracing mounting bolt design from a two-bolt to a one-bolt configuration. This issue is applicable to all Class 1E battery racks in Unit-2. We are continuing our evaluation and anticipate submitting our next report by August 27, 1986.

Very tiuly yours, (g.
