Dear Mr. Johnson:
On June 4,1986, we verbally notified your Mr. I. Barnes of a deficiency i
involving the environmental qualification of ITT Barton Model 580 series indication switches. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). We have submitted an interim report logged TXX-4891, dated July 3, 1986.
The Equipment Qualification (EQ) Group requires written confirmation from Westinghouse (NSSS) and Gibbs & Hill Instrumentation and Controls (B0P) that no Class 1E switches are located in the containment prior to completing their disposition of this issue. We are continuing our evaluation and anticipate submitting our next report by September 26, 1986.
