Revision of Milestone Date for l
Imrovement of Sinulator Fidelity In the response (Reference 2) to the Diagnostic Evaluation Team report, Detroit Edison provided the schedule for the sinulator upgrade effort. The first milestone wa7 to issue a procurement specification for the upgrade of process models, instructor station and the sinulator computers by December 1988. This milestone was achieved and proposals from seven vendors have been received and are under review.
Due to the nunber of qualified bidders and the diversity of their proposals, the evaluation of these bids is taking longer than first anticipated. Initial evaluation of the bids has been conpleted and visits to simulator vendors to clarify and verify their proposals are in progress. Upon conpletion of this activity it may be necessary to re-bid a portion or all of the initial specification and then negotiate a final contract.
Because of the conplexity and care being taken to improve our sinulator fidelity, the contract award will not be completed by the q
end of March as previously expected. Detroit Mison intends to j
conplete vendor selection as soon as practical. Detroit Edison will '
f notify the NIC by letter when the contract is awarded. Modification 1
of this milestone does not change Detroit Edison's commitnent to
.j achieve sinulator certification by June 1991.
