Dear Sir:

I am very concerned about the application to store high level nuclear waste at the Waste Control Specialists nuclear waste storage site in Andrews County, located in West Texas. This site is being considered to accept waste from nuclear plants east of the Mississippi River.

The nuclear waste from east of the Mississippi River would be transported by train, which is vulnerable to accidents and derailment. Any accident or long period of being standstill would pose danger to the people who live or work in Dallas County, in particular the cities of Mesquite, Dallas, and Grand Prairie along the Union Pacific Rail Line.

High level nuclear waste consists mainly of spent fuel rods, similar to the radiation at Fukushima, Japan, the site of the disastrous 2014 nuclear accident that is still posing contamination issues. A better solution would be to store the radiation on-site, using Hardened On-Site Storage.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
