Robert Keating, Chair Section III American Society of Mechanical Engineers Two Park Avenue New York, NY 10016-5990
SUBJECT:
LETTER NOMINATING NRC STAFF TO THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS SECTION III TASK GROUP ON ADVANCED MANUFACTURING AND THE SUBGROUP ON MATERIALS, FABRICATION, AND EXAMINATION
Dear Mr. Keating:
I would like to nominate Dr. Allen Hiser, Jr. and Mr. David Pratt as the authorized NRC representative and alternate representative, respectively, on the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)Section III Task Group on Advanced Manufacturing. Dr. Hiser is the Senior Technical Advisor for License Renewal Aging Management in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) and is one of our technical leads responsible for advanced manufacturing. Mr. Pratt is a Materials Engineer in the Corrosion and Steam Generator Branch in NRR.
Additionally, I would like to nominate Mr. Robert Davis, Senior Materials Engineer in the Piping and Head Penetrations Branch in NRR, and Dr. Hiser as the authorized NRC representative and alternate representative, respectively, on the ASME Section III Subgroup on Materials, Fabrication, and Examination. This nomination updates the previous nomination to this Subgroup, addressed in the group nomination letter dated November 5, 2020 [Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20307A130].
In accordance with the Office of Management and Budget Circular No. A-119, "Federal Participation in the Development and Use of Voluntary Consensus Standards and in Conformity Assessment Activities," January 27, 2016, the participation on a committee of an NRC-authorized representative does not connote agency agreement with, or endorsement of, decisions reached by the committee, or of standards approved and published as a result of the committees efforts. Agency representatives participating on consensus standards developing groups will, to the extent possible, ascertain the views of the agency on matters of interest and will express views that are consistent with established agency views.
However, the NRCs endorsement of these standards, if desired by the NRC, would be part of a separate activity such as incorporation by reference into rulemaking or endorsement in an NRC regulatory guide.
