February 8, 2024; Summary of meeting between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff and the Yak tityu tityu yak tiłhini Northern Chumash Tribe On February 8, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a meeting with representatives from the Yak tityu tityu yak tiłhini Northern Chumash Tribe (YTT). YTT requested to be a consulting party regarding the proposed license renewal for Diablo Canyon Power Plant Unit 1 and Unit 2 (DCPP). Only the NRC staff and YTT representatives were present.
During the meeting, the NRC staff discussed NRCs environmental and cultural resources review processes and YTT representatives discussed development and construction of the facility and their history of interactions with the licensee and various State of California agencies. YTT representatives specifically stated that they would like the following information sources referenced in NRCs environmental review:
-Research and Collaboration for Restoration of Tstyiwi on the Pecho Coast, 2018
-Descendants of Native Rancherias in the Diablo Lands Vicinity: A Northern Chumash Ethnohistorical Study, 2020 Furthermore, they requested that the licensee conduct a Native American cultural resources study in coordination with YTT.
YTT reiterated their desire to be a consulting party and expressed interest in meeting again with the NRC staff. June 4, 2024 Signed by Goldstein, Beau on 06/04/24
