Dear Mr. Johnson:
s On September 26, 1986, we verballysnotified your Mr. I. Barnes' of a deficiency regarding vertical rebar exposed during the inspection of core' bores in the Auxiliary Building that apparently do not satisfy the criteria'of a code defined lap splice. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). We have submitted an. interim report logged TXX-6061, dated October 27,; 1986.. s t
Previous calculations and quality"documentstion are, currently under review to evaluate the structural adequacy of the wall identiffed in this deficiency.
This review will precede formal calculations required to assess the effects of l
this condition on the safety of plant operations. These activities are scheduled for completion January 28, 1987.
Our next report will be submitted no later than February 18, 1987.
