4 LONG ISLAND LIGHTING COMPANY Shoreham Nuclear Power Station - Unit 1 Diesel Generator Replacement The Long Island Lighting Company has undertaken a dual path approach to providing an on-site emergency power system. While I
the repair of the existing TDI diesel generators is progressing and litigation continues, the replacement of the TDI system with
- new Colt diesel generators has also been started concurrently. )
The replacement program for the diesel generators includes con-
, struction of the following: (a) a diesel building to house the Colts; (b) new fuel oil tanks; and (c) associated piping and !
auxiliary systems for these structures.
l Replacement will be made in accordance with the following:
' 1 A. Installation of the Colt diesel generators (except piping ,,
systems) shall be performed in accordance with the Appli cable Codes, Standards and Specifications as listed in FSAR
, Section 3.8.,4. 2. - -
1 B. Installation of all safety related system piping and com-ponents shall be in accordance with the requirements of ASME Code,Section XI, 1980 Edition including Winter 1981 Addendum.
C. To satisfy pressure test requirements of shop and field i fabricated ASME components, the test pressure shall be in
! accordance with the requirements of ASME Code,Section III, 1 Article ND-6000, and other applicable documents.
D. Welding procedures and welders will be qualified in accord-ance with the Design Specifications and Construction Code
- for non-ASME portions.
4 E. All field welds in safety related piping greater than 4 inches shall be examined by either the liquid penetrant or magnetic particle method. Penetrant examination will be performed in accordance with ASME Code, Sections III, V, and l LILCO's NDE manual.
- F. All safety related work shall be in accordance with 10CFR50 Appendix B criteria and LILCO's QA Program.
G. Documentation Will include all Section XI requirements and the completion of a NIS-2 Form for each ASME Section XI repair / replacement.
