  • Description of the document: The NRC is denying a petition for rulemaking that requested the NRC amend its regulations to define the term important to safety and provide a set of specific criteria for determining which structures, systems, components, and functions are important to safety. The NRC is denying the petition after determining the existing regulatory framework provides adequate protection with respect to the petitioners concerns.
  • The docket for the petition will be closed on the date of publication in the Federal Register.
