SUBJECT:

U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REVIEW OF EXPORT LICENSE APPLICATION XB1341

Dear Mr. Rhodes:

I am writing to update you on the status of your export license application (XB1341). The application is currently under review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), for the export of one premium nuclear density gauge to Iraq. The gauge contains 0.30 gigabecquerels (GBq) of cesium-137 (Cs-137) and 1.48 GBq of americium-241/beryllium (Am-241/Be). Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 110.40(d), states in part, if the Commission has not completed action on a license application within 60 days after receipt of the Executive Branch (EB) judgement, the NRC is required to inform the applicant in writing of the reason for the delay.

The NRC received the final EB judgment on November 13, 2020, but additional time is needed for NRC staff and management to complete its review of the export application.

You may contact Stephen Baker the licensing officer assigned to your case, at any time.

Mr. Baker can be reached via email Stephen.Baker@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, 1/28/2021 X Peter J. Habighorst Peter. J. Habighorst Signed by: Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst, Chief Export Controls and Nonproliferation Branch Office of International Programs
