NRC ICAM OVERVIEW
- The mission of the NRC ICAM Program is to provide security infrastructure and services to the NRC staff and external partners, for:
- electronic identities, attributes, and privileges;
- credentialing and authentication;
- physical and logical access management;
- cryptography, key management, and digital signature;
- and more.
- ICAM has issued strong authentication credentials for licensees and other external partners since 2008.
CREDENTIALING PROCESS
- Enrollment: Applicant enrolls on the ICAM site; they provide basic identity information and establish password and security questions.
- Sponsorship: NRC Program Sponsor is notified (WRR staff);
the sponsor reviews and approves the enrollment once need for access is verified.
- Enrollment - Identity Documents: Applicant is notified of approval; they go back to the enrollment site to provide additional identity data (e.g. identity document, photograph).
CREDENTIALING PROCESS
- Identity Proofing: NRC Trusted Agent is notified (Identity Proofing team); the agent reviews and approves the enrollment after identity verification is complete.
- Activation: Applicant is notified of final approval; they receive instructions for downloading and activating the One-time Password (OTP) application.
- Completion: Applicant can log in to WRR using their ICAM username, password, and OTP code.
