RESPONSE TO FREEDOM OF 2021-000129 1 INFORMATION ACT (FOIA) REQUEST RESPONSE TYPE INTERIM FINAL PART I.D -- COMMENTS On March 22, 2021, we received your request as described above. On April 8, 2021, you modified your request to be "the official documentation from the Office of General Counsel that states that MD 8.8 is a legal requirement and part of the regulations". The Office of General Counsel (OGC) was tasked to conduct a search, and has informed us that the NRCs Management Directives (MD) are neither legal requirements nor part of the NRCs regulations. Please see section 1.A of MD 1.1 for an explanation of how MDs are used by the NRC. MD 1.1 may be found at: https://drupal.nrc.gov/policy/

directives/toc/md1001.htm. As such, there would be no records responsive to your request.
