Biennial Emergency Preparedness Exercise Potential Exemption Request The Kansas Division of Emergency Management recently submitted for relief from the frequency requirement of Biennial Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercises (Wolf Creek Generating Station). By letter dated May 24, 2021, the request and supporting documents were reviewed by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region VII Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program (REPP) staff and a recommendation from the Regional Administrator was provided to the Assistant Administrator of the National Preparedness Directorate (NPD) for final approval through the Director of the Technological Hazards Division. Based on the documentation provided and recommendation from the Regional Administrator, the Assistant Administrator of NPD has approved the request for relief to postpone the WCGS biennial emergency preparedness exercise until no later than November 2022.
Based on the Kansas Division of Emergency Managements approved relief request to not participate in WCGSs Biannual Emergency Preparedness (EP) exercise, Wolf Creek is considering submitting an EP exemption from this years EP exercises.
