,. X Not Applicable Subject! M SCOVERY OF RADIOGRAPHY CAMERA IN TRASH (UPDATE)

On June 16, 1994, Region IV was notified by the state of Oklahoma of a

, rcdiography device discovered by a trash contractor and turned in to the police department in Checotah, Oklahoma. On June 17, A nearby NPC rcdiography licensee took possession of the device at the request of R0gion IV staff. The device was identified as an Automation Industries i Modal 100A-1. Radiation levels measured by.the licensee were less than 1.0 3r/hr at the surface of the device.

ad reported measuring low levels of contamination on the floor where the device had been stored. He also found contamination on the device ctored at the licensee's facility.

A Rcgion IV inspector will perform an onsite review on June 21 in an ottcmpt to determine where the device was found, to confirm whether or not there is a sealed source in the device, and to identify the origin cnd extent of the contamination.

Afterwards, a representative of Amersham Corporation is expected to take po: cession of the device.

! R:gion IV has been unsuccessful, thus far, in determining the origin of tho device.-A docket file search is underway to identify licensees that havo been previously authorized for this make and model of device.
