- to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) from the State of New Mexico.

The NRC looks to the Govemor-appointed State Liaison Officer to provide a communication channel between the State and the NRC; to be the key person in the State to keep the Govemor

- informed on regulatory, radiological public health and safety or other matters of interest to the Govemor; to keep other officials within the State informed on regulatory and public health and safety matters as appropriate to their interests and/or responsibilities; and to provide NRC with information on particular issues.

. We are placing you on a special mailing list so that on a regular basis you will receive copies of NRC documents and reports ;o keep you informed of matters that may be of interest to States. Also, NRC conducts a national State Liaison Officers' meeting every three years, and regional meetings on an as needed basis, to discuss matters of mutual regulatory interest.
